We have been busy….

In Maths we have been busy learning about shapes and numbers to 5. We have explored a range of shapes and their properties, learning to name them and talk about them. We had fun finding different shapes in our environment together. We have also been practicing the important skill of subitising (seeing how many there are, without counting).

In phonics we have loved using our sound knowledge to write words. We have spent lots of time orally segmenting and blending words and now we are putting this into practice with our writing. We have also had fun exploring books together, looking for sounds and sight words we know and reading decodable books together.

We also had some special visitors in our class, talking to us about road safety. We especially loved the new song we learnt that reminds us to ‘stop, look, listen, before we cross the street’ and ‘use our eyes and ears before we use our feet’.
